ROBBIE is a 14 year old 16.1hh Skewbald Dutch Gelderlander who is an experienced pairs and team horse and has been with us since 2007. Robbie has sucessfully combined weddings with show ring appearances and great success in Driving Trials.
BROOKLYN is a 16hh skewbald mare, thoroughbred x Irish cob, 19 years old and has been with us all her life and been very successful in most areas of equine sport. She is currently working in pairs with her daughter Manhattan.
Manhattan, (Hattie) the 8 year old daughter of Brooklyn spent 2010 forming the main pairing with Robbie. She is also competed in the show ring when the opportunity arose. 2011 saw her paired with Brooklyn and Robbie and some solo outings.
December 2011
Spring started with the annual sponsored drive at Escrick Park, raising funds for Marie Curie, Hattie completed the obstacles well in her 1st marathon with Robbie. The following weekend their services were required helping celebrate a Golden Wedding near Scarborough. Unfortunately Robbie suffered an injury in May so was not available for the rest of the season but Brooklyn has postponed her retirement and so we have had a mother and daughter main pairing for 2011. We have been busy with weddings and proms traveling to Harrogate and Helmsley as well as the Scarborough area . Brooklyn has been involved with some BBC film work at Scarborough for the next series of Coast so will keep you updated and Manhattan made the occasional show ring appearance usually with success.
In September we made our annual visit to Chatsworth Country Fair this time with Manhattan going solo and winning the British Driving Society TREC competition on the Friday a class she 1st won with Brooklyn as a pair in 2009.Driving trials have taken a back seat this summer with Robbie out of action but Hattie did the marathon at Escrick for the end of the season and went well.
Puzzle arrived at the beginning of 2011, has been broken to drive and his education is progressing well. Puzzle is a coloured horse with a difference, as he is spotted and very attractive, he made his show ring/public debut at Driffield Show in July and went very well winning his class.
Puzzle went to Askham Bryan in October for his 1st look at indoor driving. He was most puzzled! but was calm and steady and he is now on his winter holidays to finish growing. He has driven in pairs with Brooklyn and Manhattan.and will make his wedding debut in 2012.
Brooklyn is also now on her holidays but with early weddings in 2012 it will be over quickly.
